Payments
Getting paid with SmartShoot is simple, but there are a few key things to know to keep everything running smoothly.
How and When You’ll Get Paid
- Payments are issued on the 4th Friday after your project is approved.
- You’ll receive an email when payments are processed, including a list of the project IDs you are being paid for.
- Payment dates are also listed in the feed of each job — check there first if you have questions about timing.
Setting Up Payments
If you’re new to SmartShoot, make sure you’ve set up your payment details to avoid delays:
- Go to your Account > Payment page.
- Fill out your payment preferences and tax declaration form.
- Double-check that all details are correct.
Payment Methods
Available payment methods depend on your location:
- Direct Deposit/ACH (called Local Bank Transfer outside the US)
- Wire Transfer
- Check
- PayPal
Tracking Your Payments
- You’ll receive a remittance email (or PayPal notification) listing the project IDs included in each payment.
- To check the status of your payments, go to your Payments page.
- Every project and payment date will be listed.
- You can sort columns and search for specific payments.
- Tip: If you think anything is missing, sort by the Scheduled Payment Date column to see all payments coming through on one date - this makes it easier to cross-reference.
- Some payments (like cancellation fees) may not have a shoot date, so keep that in mind when searching.
Cancellation Fees
If a cancellation fee is approved by SmartShoot, it will be tracked to you. Even if the shoot is rescheduled with another photographer, you will still receive the cancellation fee — no need to worry.
Need Help?
If you have questions about your SmartShoot account or payments, please check the project feed and the payments page thoroughly before reaching out - the information is almost always available there.
- The project feed will show the approval and payment dates for each job.
- The Payments page also lists every project and payment date - you can sort and search to find the details you need.
If you still have questions after checking both, email team@smartshoot.com - we’re happy to help.
